Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Monday said the government was encouraging new investment in power generation and distribution sectors to improve efficiency and benefit the consumers. He was chairing a high-level meeting to review the privatisation of power projects. Efforts to increase investment in power sector and privatisation of state-owned industrial enterprises were also discussed.

The Prime Minister also emphasised that while the momentum of privatisation keeps up there should be a simultaneous movement on the reforms agenda.
